Maybe some of you have had similar thought or have acted the same way at parties before. This realization made it a little bit easier for me to deal with social drain. I only noticed recently that i am faking my smiles to seem like i am enjoying peoples stories more than i actually am, and that forcing out emotions I usually would not show is part of the reason I get so exhausted at parties. I still have to make myself do this actively as it became almost a habit at this point. I have also allowed myself to drift off with my thoughts instead of always actively listening or contributing to a conversation going on near me. Recently I have made myself stop fake smiling at stories and things that are happening when I don't actually find them funny. One of the reasons is that I have to engage in conversations and feel like i am expected to react and behave in a exaggerated way that wouldn't come to me naturally, as I am normally wearing a mostly neutral expression.
